Q. I'm confused. My cousin's bail is $25,000 but the bail bondsman said a bond would only cost $2,500. Do I need to pay the remainder to the court?

A. No. When someone has been arrested and detained and works with a
South Bay bail bonds company to help get them out of jail, the bondsman will charge a fee equal to 10% of the total amount of bail to post a bail bond. A bail bond is a piece of paper that's posted with the court that promises that, once released, the defendant will return to court on a pre-scheduled date and time in order to have their case resolved. If the defendant chooses to skip bail, the

Purchasing South Bay bail bonds will cost the same as it would to purchase one anywhere else in the state. In California, bail is regulated by the state Department of Insurance, and the Department of Insurance has capped the fee that bail bonds companies charge for their services at 10% of the total amount of what the court has set a defendant's bail.

Thus, if you have a friend or family member who has been arrested and taken to a South Bay jail and their bail has been set at $20,000, you would only have to pay $2,000 to have them released. In some cases, bail bonds can be obtained at an 8% rate. That discount is typically reserved for active and retired military personnel, union members, and those who are working with an attorney.

At Adelante Bail Bonds, we are experts in writing South Bay bail bonds and can help you get a friend or family member out of jail fast. Call us at 310-626-4100 24-hours a day to learn more about how we can help and to find out if you're eligible to for an 8% bond rate.

No. Although bail bonds and immigration bonds both allow a person to be released from custody until they need to appear back before a judge, they serve different purposes.

If a person is detained because they are believed to be in the United States without the proper documentation they will likely be permitted to be released from detention after having an immigration bond posted. Much like the name implies, immigration bonds are utilized in situations where a person's immigration status is in question.

Bail bonds, on the other hand are utilized when a person has been arrested and charged with a crime, such as theft, possession of a controlled substance, or driving under the influence.

If you know someone who has been arrested and detained in the South Bay and you have questions about how South Bay bail bonds work, call our office now at 310-626-4100.
How Is Bail Set In South Bay?

When a person is arrested and taken to a South Bay jail, the Los Angeles County Bail Schedule will generally determine the bail amount. Bail schedules list bail amounts for different charges, and the more serious a crime is, the higher that amount will be.

Bail is not something that's negotiable and only judges are permitted to raise, remove, or lower that cost. Yet just because someone's bond has been set at $50,000, that's not to say the full amount needs to be posted with the court in order to get them out of jail.

By working with a South Bay bail bondsman you'll only need to post 10% of the full amount with the bail bond company in order to get someone released from jail. If you have questions about

What Is Bail Recovery?

A bail bond is a contract between a defendant, the court, and the South Bay bail bondsman who posted it. That contract promises the defendant will return for mandated court appearances despite the defendant being granted a temporary release from jail.

The defendant is promising the bail bondsman and the court that they will appear as required. The South Bay bail bonds company is promising the court the same thing, and if that promise is broken, they will assume liability for paying the court the full amount of the defendant's bail.

If the defendant skips bail the bondsman will be given six months to find them and return them to custody. If they're successful, the bail bond will be exonerated and they will no longer need to pay. If they are unsuccessful, they will be placed in a financial situation.

Ultimately, bail recovery allows bondsmen to pursue, arrest, and return defendants to jail through their own efforts or by hiring a bounty hunter.

If you have questions about bail bonds and want to know if you're eligible for zero-percent bail bonds financing call Adelante Bail Bonds now at 310-626-4100. An expert bail bondsman is available to take your call 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.

What Is Bail Enforcement

Bail enforcement involves the return of a defendant who "skipped bail" to police custody. When a person works with a South Bay bail bondsman to get out of jail, they are still required to return to court to have their case resolved. Should that person fail to appear, a bench warrant will be issued for their immediate arrest. It will then become the responsibility of the
South Bay bail bonds company they worked with to have the defendant returned to custody within a six-month time period. If they are unable to do so, they, and the person who co-signed the bail bond, will be responsible for paying the full amount of the original bail to the court.

Bail bonds companies have a vested interest in making sure that doesn't happen and may employ the use of a "bounty hunter" (also called a bail enforcement agent) to assist them in locating a defendant, if necessary.

If you need assistance in getting a friend or loved one out of one of the South Bay jails call Adelante Bail Bonds now at 310-626-4100 for 24-hour assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bail

After being in business for more than 40 years, we've heard all sorts of questions about bail from our clients. Below are some of the most common Q&A's.

Are bondsman bounty hunters?

Not exactly. South Bay bail bondsman helps get people out of jails. If a defendant willfully fails to attend mandated court appearances, a "bounty hunter" may be called for assistance in locating them and returning them to jail.

What is a bail bond?

A bail bond is a piece of paper that's posted with the court that promises the defendant will appear back before a judge when required. Bail bonds allow defendants to be temporarily released from jail while their case is being resolved.

What happens if a defendant doesn't go to court?

The judge would immediately revoke their bond and issue a warrant for their immediate arrest. Skipping bail is very serious offense and should absolutely be avoided.

South Bay bail bonds can be posted 24-hours a day. If you need assistance in bailing a friend or loved one out of jail call us locally at 310-626-4100. An expert bondsman is available to assist you 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Flexible and creative payment plans are available for those who qualify.

Are Bail Bond Fees Returned?

No.

When a person is arrested and hires a South Bay bail bondsman to help get them out of jail the cost of a bail bond is paid to them as a fee for that service.

South Bay bail bonds are basically insurance policies that promise the defendant will appear before a judge, when mandated, in order to have their case resolved. If the defendant willfully fails to appear the bail bonds company could potentially be on the hook to pay the full amount of the original amount of bail to the court.

Because bail bonds companies take on a certain amount of liability when they bail a person out of jail, they charge a non-refundable fee for their services.

At Adelante Bail Bonds we have more than 40-years of experience in helping people get out of South Bay jails. We will take the time to explain how bail bonds work and will handle your call with confidentiality and professionalism.

Skipping bail, or failing to appear for mandated court proceedings related to the resolution of a case, is not something one should take lightly. The first thing that will happen is that a bench warrant will be issued for the defendant's immediate arrest.

If a person misses a court date by accident they should call their bondsman immediately. The South Bay bail bonds company they worked with will then provide them a piece of paper to give to the court which will allow for their bond to be reinstated.

If a person willingly fails to appear the South Bay bail bondsman who posted the bond and the person who co-signed the bail bond contract will have six months to return them to police custody. If that does not happen, they will become responsible for paying the full amount of the original bail to the court as a penalty.

Call our office locally at 310-626-4100 to learn more about how bail works and the responsibilities you'll need to be aware of before co-signing a bail bonds contract.

It's not uncommon for people to confuse bail bondsmen and bounty hunters. Bounty hunters are the people who bondsmen call to help return someone to police custody if they are bailed out of jail and refuse to return to court to have their case resolved.

Bail bondsmen, however, do none of that. Instead, a South Bay bail bondsman works with friends or family members of people who have been arrested in order to help the defendant out of jail.

A combined "Shoulder-Tap Decoy" sting conducted by the Manhattan Beach Police Department, Hermosa Beach Police Department and El Segundo Police Department netted 13 citations against individuals who were purchasing alcohol for minors.

Under the Shoulder Tap Decoy program a minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer stands outside a liquor or convenience store and asks patrons to buy them alcohol. They then indicate they are underage and cannot purchase it themselves. If the adults agree to make the purchase, investigators cite them for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The Daily Breeze reports that a total of 232 adults were approached. Two were cited in Hermosa Beach; four were cited in El Segundo and seven were cited in Manhattan Beach.

A spokesperson for the California Alcohol Beverage Control said the agency has been actively working with local law enforcement agencies from throughout the state in an effort to crack down on underage drinking. Statistics show minors generally have a higher rate of drunken driving crashes than adults.
