DUI Patrol In South Bay On NYE

A task force consisting of officers from surrounding communities will patrol the streets of South Bay on New Year's Eve, keeping a mindful watch for persons who may be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

DUI and driver's license checkpoints will be held tonight in Redondo Beach and Torrance. In addition, saturation patrols will take place on New Year's Day in Carson. It's been further reported that the California Highway Patrol will be deploying all available officers throughout the weekend.

Law enforcement officials have said that more than 1,725 motorists believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs have been arrested since Dec. 16.
