South Bay law enforcement officials will continue to hold DUI checkpoints and patrols this holiday season. Upcoming Hermosa Beach DUI patrols are scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 20, Wednesday Dec. 21, Thursday Dec. 22, Friday Dec. 23, Thursday Dec. 29, Friday Dec. 30 and Saturday Dec. 31.

The checkpoints are part of Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's "Avoid the 100" campaign. From 12:01 a.m. Friday Dec. 16 through Midnight Sunday Dec. 18, county law enforcement agencies have arrested 598 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police, Sheriff and the California Highway Patrol officials encourage all motorists to help law enforcement by calling 9-1-1 to report drunk drivers.
