Arrested In The South Bay: Do I Need A Bail Bond?
In some instances if a person is arrested and booked for a minor offense they may instead be issued a "cite-out" instead of being required to post bail. This means the defendant would be issued a citation and would be required to return to court at a set date and time in order to have the matter resolved.
Minor offenses that might be "cited out" include things such as public intoxication. In some instances, if the person is arrested for a basic first-time DUI, a cite-out may also be issued. Basic DUIs are ones in which there is not an accident involved, there are not minors in the car, there is not a prior history of arrest and the person does not attempt to flee the scene, etc. The defendant would still be detained, though, for a period of time to "sober up".
If you know someone who has been arrested and taken to a South Bay jail, you should still seek out the assistance of a South Bay bail bondsman. The bondsman will be able to help you understand the charges and will let you know if you'll need to secure a bail bond to have the individual released.
