Hermosa Beach Police Department Names Interim Chief

The Hermosa Beach Police Department has named 27-year law enforcement veteran Cap. Steve Johnson as its interim police chief.

Johnson will temporarily replace Greg Savelli, according to a recent report by the Easy Reader, who has taken a lead position with the Los Angeles Bureau of Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control.

Hermosa Beach City Manager Steve Burrell said he has full confidence in Capt. Johnson's ability to ensure the department continues to run smoothly.

Johnson served as the second highest ranking officer under Chief Savelli. Prior to joining the Department, Captain Johnson served as a police lieutenant with the San Marino Police Department.

The process to find a permanent replacement for Chief Savelli is still being determined and will be announced at a later date.
