Is South Bay Bail The Same Thing As A South Bay Bail Bond?
No.
When a person is arrested and detained at a South Bay jail there is a very good chance they will be permitted to "bail out" of before their trial. In order to do this they have two options. If bail has been set at $10,000, the first option is to post the full amount, in cash, with the court. If the defendant makes all the required court appearances that money will be refunded to the person who posted it several months after the case is concluded.
Option #2 is to work with a South Bay bail bondsman. Instead of posting cash with the court, the bondsman will post a paper document, called a bail bond, with the jail. That bail bond promises that the defendant will make all their court dates and if not, the bondsman will need to pay the full bail with the court. South bay bail bonds can be purchased for 10% of the total cost of bail. Keep in mind, though, that this money is non-refundable and is a fee collected by the bondsman for their services.
